Accuweigh  recently supplied two sets of platform scales to SP Hay on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula. Both Avery A500 galvanised platform scales were used for weighing hay as it is being filled into bulka-bags with both platform scales connected to a single digital weight indicator for increased cost effectiveness.

SP Hay purchased two 1200mm x 1200mm platform scales and fitted their own metal framework to hold the bulka bags in position. The single Rinstrum 5100 batching indicator is connected to both platform scales and the operator uses a simple switch to connect the platform scale the hay is to be loaded onto while the filled bag is being removed.

Accuweigh has fully completed batching controllers available, but in this case, the client fitted their own external start and stop buttons and the relays required to operate the feed mechanism for controlling the hay being fed onto the platform scales.

SP Hay is a small hay exporting company started by Stuart Price, his parents, cousins and next door neighbour. With the advice and support of Hood Sweeney founding partner Graham Sweeney, that small company grew rapidly and is today one of the largest Australian exporters of hay to Japan.

Accuweigh is an Austarlian industrial weighing company and has branches in all mainland states providing complete after sales service and support on platform scales, bagging systems and all industrial weighing equipment.
