The members of the Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society (AARES) is an independent association of persons and organisations interested in agricultural, resource and environmental economics.

AARES provide its members with relevant publications and access to professional and social activities hosted by the various AARES branches.

AARES organised an annual conference that covers topical issues relevant to the agricultural, resource and environmental economics. Held in February each year, the conference provides an opportunity for academics, policy makers and others in the agricultural, resource and environmental sectors to network, share ideas and research, and to keep up to date with the latest developments.

An annual symposium is also held each year based on a topic of current interest. The 2011 Annual Symposium, which was held at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane in conjunction with the Western Economics Association, focused on The Economic Dimensions of Floods and Natural Disasters.

There are currently 9 branches which are based in ACT, New England, NSW, New Zealand, North America, QLD, SA, VIC, WA.
