Bayer CropScience  will simplify the task of choosing an effective cereal fungicide with the pending release of Prosaro 420 SC to the Australian cereal foliar fungicide market.A unique mixture of two active ingredients – tebuconazole and the new Bayer fungicide, prothioconazole – Prosaro is a protective and curative  cereal fungicide with systemic activity.

Extensive evaluation of Prosaro has shown it consistently delivers long-lasting control across a broad disease spectrum.   With an investment in only one fungicide – Prosaro – growers will be able to control most common foliar diseases they are likely to face, including leaf, stripe and stem rust, septoria nodorum and yellow leaf spot in wheat, as well as net form net blotch, spot form net blotch, powdery mildew, leaf scald and leaf rust in barley.

More than 80 trials throughout Australia have shown that Prosaro performed as well or better than a range of industry standards across a wide range of barley and wheat diseases. The greening effect produced by Prosaro cereal fungicide proved to be a real benefit in trials.  The exceptional disease control offered by Prosaro, across a broad spectrum of diseases, maximises the green leaf area retention, resulting in a prolonged growing period for the crop.

This prolonged growing period allows the crop to efficiently utilise available light, water and nutrients and, ultimately, can help crops reach full yield potential.Prosaro is quick and long-lasting and it is excellent against hard-to-control foliar diseases.  Its broad activity and reliable disease control offers a good return on investment.

The reliability of Prosaro was highlighted by research looking at green leaf area retention which prolongs the growing period and assists growers in reaching their crop yield potential.  Recent trials with Prosaro across Australia specifically evaluated this ‘greening effect’.  Best responses were achieved at higher label rates, with corresponding yield increases. The recommended application rate will be 150 to 300 mL/ha with the adjuvant Hasten, if required, at 1% (v/v) and with a minimum 60 L/ha water rate.  Prosaro also has compatibility with a wide range of herbicides and insecticides
