This process of upgrading produces commercial purebreds.

Brocburn Dorper Stud also involves in the process of upgrading by crossing Dorper rams with short wool downs breeds including Suffolk, Southdown and so on. Upgrading is also performed by Brocburn Dorper Stud by crossing Dorper rams with long wool breeds such as Merino and Corriedale reduces generation time required for shedding. Dorper rams are crossed with ewes to produce lambs ideal for domestic trade.

Brocburn Dorper Stud undertakes crossing of Dorper rams and upgrading of Dorper rams. Second cross most lambs contain the typical Dorper markings, while the F1 Dorper contains varied proportion of wool colour, which is a ‘colour explosion’. Dorper sheep are ideal for attractive and functional wool. Cross bred Dorper wool has a combination of dark and medullated fibres.
