$10,000 Biodiesel Research Grant Closing 31 October 2008

Supplier News

Farmers, researchers, students and others interested in biodiesels research have just a month left to apply for the $10,000 Case IH Biodiesels Research Grant. Applications close on 31 October.

Case IH developed the grant program as part of a broader campaign to improve understanding about and development of biodiesel and related technologies. This campaign includes seminars, partnerships with biodiesel organisations and an ongoing dedication to creating biodiesel ready machines.

“Case IH is committed to the future of the agricultural industry, and we recognise that finding alternatives to petroleum diesel fuels will become more important as time goes on,” says Stuart Brown, Case IH Marketing Manager. “We hope that by offering this grant we can help come up with the answers to some of the questions that remain about biodiesel development and use.”

Applications for the grant are open to any person or organisation working on a project that would advance the biodiesel cause. This includes direct and applied research projects which may, for instance, consider production of biodiesels or look at developing national standards for its use.

“In developing the grant program we attempted to leave ample room for applicants to delve into the biodiesels arena,” Stuart says. “Biodiesel is a burgeoning field of study so we’ve kept the grant guidelines deliberately broad. The grant represents a significant opportunity for the successful applicant to further their work and increase the profile of their project.”

Anyone considering lodging a grant application is advised to do it soon. “Applications close on 31 October, just a few weeks away, so I’d encourage intending applicants to submit their forms soon. We want to encourage the widest possible range of entrants,” Stuart says. The grant winner will be announced during December.

NSW applicants are also eligible to apply for a grant of up to $10,000 from the NSW Department of State and Regional Development. This grant may be awarded to the winner of the Case IH grant, or to a different applicant, at the sole discretion of the Department.
