Case IH has upgraded its Patriot sprayer line with the introduction of their new model Patriot 4420 to the market.

The new Patriot 4420 sprayers feature a number of significant improvements over their predecessor, the SPX4410 to increase power and productivity while maximising operator comfort and convenience.

With its Tier III, 8.3L high-pressure common rail, electronically controlled fuel injection engine, the Patriot 4420 offers increased fuel efficiency. The 290 HP engine also provides a peak torque boost of 310 HP at 2,000 rpm.

Ross Johansson, Brand Manager, Patriot Sprayers and Advanced Farming Systems said that these features provided plenty of lugging capacity through the toughest field conditions.

Maximum engine torque to the ground is achieved through the Patriot 4420's unique mechanical configuration wherein both the propel pump and motor work together through the final drive to ensure maximum power to the ground.

A standard active suspension system ensures smooth travelling in all terrain and operator efficiency is improved through the refinement of the boom configuration.

“The new EZ-Fold boom control (auto-fold for 120-feet booms) allows the operator to fold or unfold both the left- and right-hand inner and outer booms simultaneously with the touch of a single switch.”

Given that some operators may need to refill at least six to seven times a day, being able to quickly lift and fold the boom saves a significant amount of time in the course of a season.

Versatility is achieved through an adjustable 3m - 4m wheel track marking system, which automatically shows where the wheel tracks have been moved within this range eliminating the need for manual checking.

The 3.2 cubic metres of interior cab space allow plenty of legroom and comfort. The Optima air ride seat offers numerous adjustments to provide the perfect fit for every operator. All routine controls are mounted on the right-hand console that is attached directly to the seat and moves along with the operator.

Maintenance is improved with a reduction in components in the transmission drive, simplifying servicing and ensuring maximum time in-field.

Safety features include a switch on the operator console to ensure the front wheels are in brake mode before the steps fold down. Placing the switch on the console means there is less chance of accidentally activating the lever.

The Patriot 4420 sprayer continues to feature Case IH's proven cab forward - rear engine configuration with the product tank in the middle. This design provides optimum weight distribution and reduces field rutting, allowing the operator to get in the field earlier.

The rear-mounted engine design ensures the cab is remarkably quiet.

Other features of Patriot 4420 farm sprayers include optional AIM Command, a unique system that maintains constant droplet size and pressure regardless of speed. This technology uses pulse width modulation technology to allow operators to control spray pressure independently of ground speed and application rates. Pressure settings can also be retained even when the ignition is switched off.
