Botryticide - Effective and Consistant Control of Bortrytis in the Wine Industry - Switch Fungacide by Syngenta
Product/Service Name
Syngenta's premier fungicide, Switch, is now officially the No. 1 premium botryticide in the Australian and New Zealand wine industries
Unprecedented Botrytis Protection
Switch BotryticideExtensive research in Australia, New Zealand and Europe has demonstrated that Switch provides
better and more consistent control of Botrytis than other commonly used fungicides, particularly under high disease pressure or adverse spraying conditions.
Some 24,475 hectares of Australian vines were treated with Switch last year.
It can be used right up to pre bunch closure, while competing products can be used only until 80% cap fall. This gives growers a
much longer window in which to protect their crops from the devastating disease, Botrytis.
Higher Returns for Grape Vine GrowersLower levels of Botrytis infection also mean higher returns for growers, especially in years with a large supply of wine grapes.
In a recent survey of Australian wine growers, it was found that for an investment of $117 per hectare, Switch averted potential penalties of up to $4,443/ha in Shiraz and $3,370/ha in Chardonnay grapes based on 6% infection levels.
In gross margin terms, every dollar invested in Switch delivered an additional $37/ha in Shiraz grapes and $28/ha in Chardonnay grapes.
Features of Switch Fungacide that Cure and Prevent BotrytisSwitch contains two powerful active ingredients whose unique modes of action provide persistent curative and protectant activity against Botrytis when applied at either 80% capfall or pre bunch closure.
Fludioxonil is the residual component that stays mainly on the leaf and fruit surface to
prevent the germination of botrytis spores.
Cyprodinil is the systemic partner that is taken up into the plant tissue to control developing infections.
These two modes of action not only attack Botrytis during four stages of disease development, but also provide a
built in resistance management strategy.
