Elders Global Wool Auctions

Supplier News

Elders Global Wool Auctions are a clear example of Elders trying new initiatives that increase competition and demand for Australian wool, whilst also finding the most efficient and effective ‘route to market’. The aim of these auctions is to increase competition by making Australian wool more directly accessible to overseas mills operating in the deregulating global textile sector.

The Elders Global Wool Auctions are transparent and flexible for all Australian wool traders and also for international mills who have not previously been able to access Australian wool.

Elders and our international network of staff will work with growers to select lines of wool to be offered in multiples of 25 - 28 bale parcels suited to global mill requirements.

Individual wool samples are then displayed on duplicate showfloors in Australia (Brooklyn) and China (Nanjing) and then offered for sale by auction at the Nanjing Wool Market saleroom in China. The physical bales will remain unshipped in Australia until post sale delivery instructions have been received.

Elders will not sell a parcel in any Global Wool Auction unless it meets the equivalent Australian auction price, hence offering growers security in their wool marketing decision. If wools are passed in at the Elders Global Wool Auction, the grower can either choose to re-offer them in the next available Australian auction, the next Elders Global Wool Auction, or placed on hold.

The Elders Global Wool Auctions reduce time and costs along the supply chain by utilising the integrated strength of Elders global supply, logistics, risk management, financing, trading and personnel expertise.
