Elders just reinforced its commitment to dairy farmers in south-eastern Australia

Supplier News

Northern Herd Development Co-op (NHD) will operate as the authorised Elders agents for dairy clients across northern and north-eastern Victoria, southern New South Wales and throughout South Australia. Elders just reinforced its commitment to dairy farmers in south-eastern Australia.

Elders General Manager Sales South, Shane Chisholm, said joining forces with industry leaders such as NHD added value to Elders clients’ business.

“NHD will provide on-farm advice and source stock to meet growing overseas customer demand, and will complement our trading business as we continue to build dairy exports to markets such as China,” Mr Chisholm said.

Elders have, in 2008, shipped more than 20,000 dairy heifers to markets around the world including Mexico, China, Russia, the Middle East and Taiwan. Elders continues to gain momentum in dairy live exports as we work to strengthen existing markets and customer relationships while continuing to focus on emerging markets in Russia, the Middle East and the sub-continent.

“Currently Elders is sourcing both commercial and registered heifers for orders to China and Saudi Arabia with a strong outlook for the rest of 2009.”

According to Mr Chisholm dairy will continue on being a significant strategic component of Elders’ agribusiness strategy.

“Our clients want partnerships that deliver returns and provide superior marketing options,” he said. “The combination of NHD’s expertise and presence in the dairy industry, and Elders’ strength in livestock trading domestically and internationally, do just that.”
