ElectraNet rebuilds Ardrossan West substation to meet increasing energy demands

Supplier News

ElectraNet ’s commitment is to meet the growing power demand by providing its electricity consumers with access to reliable electricity supplies.

ElectraNet currently has a team of more than 150 engineers working on a variety of transmission developments, as part of its commitment to meeting South Australia’s increasing demand for power through the reinforcement and expansion of its transmission network.

As part of its transmission development plans ElectraNet is upgrading and rebuilding its Ardrossan West substation.  The upgrade will improve transmission and network reliability to meet rising electricity demands in the Mid North.

The project, which is already in progress and set to be completed in July of 2012, will involve the augmentation of the 132/33 kV capacity transformer.  This will ensure, in line with the  revised 2008 South Australian Electricity Transmission Code, adequate installed transformer and line capacity to supply peak demand under single contingency operating conditions.
