The Australian Agricultural Company’s (AACo) Darling Downs Wagyu brand has celebrated 10 years in the Korean retail market.
The 10 year milestone was complimented with week-long, nationwide promotions including in-store cooking demonstrations and product sampling throughout South Korea’s largest supermarket retailer E-Mart.
Sales turnover during the week rose by three times the normal weekly volumes due to the increase in promotion both in store and through social media.
Darling Downs is the AACo’s premium 300+day grass fed and grain finished cross-bred Wagyu beef which boasts a marble score of 4+ to 5+.
The majority of product exported to Korea is used for Korean BBQ, hotpot cooking and Korean bulgogi. It is also sold at select butchers and restaurants throughout Australia.
As Australia’s largest wagyu producer, AACo exports to over 27 countries and has built a solid reputation for their breeding, feeding and finishing methods of the exclusive Japanese brand of beef.
AACo’s head of beef marketing Jason Strong, said the Darling Downs brand was highly sought after in Korea.
“Like Japan, Korea is one of the most discerning beef markets in the world,” he said.
“It is a real achievement to have 10 years of unbroken supply, and a testament to the hard work that goes into breeding and growing the wagyu cattle in Australia.”
