GrainCorp Continues to Support WA Canola Growers

GrainCorp Limited today assured Western Australian growers the Company will continue to support them by offering a WA-specific canola pool for the 2006/2007 season.

This follows confirmation that Grain Pool of WA does not plan to run a traditional WA canola pool due to recently issued Grain Licensing Authority special export licenses.

GrainCorp, the largest non-statutory pool manager in Australia, will offer a simple and transparent canola pool across all port zones of WA for the 2006/2007 season.

The General Manager of GrainCorp Marketing, Mr Sam Tainsh, said the Company offered growers wider access to international market s, particularly to high-demand areas such as Pakistan and Bangladesh.

“GrainCorp i s committed to WA growers, particularly in light of their production woes so far this season,” said Mr Tainsh.

“We believe it is important to offer a pooling option to WA growers so they have an alternative to the cash market this year.

“We will continue to support them by offering a WA-specific canola pool. We have the expertise, resources and an experienced risk management team that can deliver results for growers.” GrainCorp is progressively expanding into the WA canola market and ran its first canola pool there during the 2005/2006 season. Nationally, GrainCorp pool returns were in the top 30% of the grain market in the 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 season, with its 2005/06 pools aiming to meet this objective.
