Now available from Graintec , SeedCount is a digital imaging system designed specifically for the grain industry, which uses software and scanner technology to analyse a grain sample to determine its principal characteristics.
Generating detailed data tables that can be exported to any spreadsheet or database program, the SeedCount digital imaging system is ideal for anyone who grows, sells, buys or uses grain and assesses its quality. Potential users of the SeedCount system include:
- breeders
- brewers
- dealers
- growers
- food processors
- maltsters; and
- millers
The SeedCount digital imaging system for grain analysis has a range of features including:
- easy to operate touch pad PC, requiring no connection to a laptop or desktop PC
- simple set-up allowing grain analysis to start immediately
- new interface screen able to be customised to suit individual grain analysis requirements
- images and data can be saved as a text or html file all from one screen.
- sequential samples can be saved to the same location
- simple, easy to execute, calibration routine providing assurance the instrument is performing accurately
- improved chalk measurement range for rice.
SeedCount analyses the digital image of a grain sample to determine the following:
- number of seeds in the sample
- grain size, including length, width, thickness, and area
- thousand kernel weight - as is or dry
- dockage percentage
- screening equivalents that correspond to standard screen fractions
- grain plumpness
- grain roundness
- percentage of seeds that have a blackpoint defect
- blackpoint severity.
There is also a range of further tests currently being developed, for example green seeds, fusarium, weathering, horneous endosperm and stress cracks (by transmitted light), red streaks, dent size, colour, and crown.
The SeedCount digital image system for grain analysis is currently offered for wheat, barley, rice and corn. Future versions will include additional trays and calibrations for other cereals and grains.
