Superfine Merino breeds of sheep have good meat and wool yield qualities. Hillcreston Park Merino Stud has won the first Cheilain Award of Excellence for its superfine grades of wool. Quality of wool can be determined on the basis of fleece style, colour, fiber diameter and staple length.
