Breeders association represents thoroughbred breeding industry in the Hunter
03/07/12 - The Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Association Inc (HTBA) focuses specifically on the development and promotion of the thoroughbred breeding industry in the Hunter Valley area of New South Wales. Furthermore, the breeders association aims to highlight the importance and value of the thoroughbred breeding industry on a national and international scale. The Hunter Valley is one of the three international centres of Thoroughbred Breeding Excellence in the world, and is recognised as Australia’s horse capital. It thus makes sense to have a breeders association that caters specifically to this fruitful region. Stallion and broodmare farms, the largest hospital in the Southern Hemisphere dedicated to equine health, and equine support industries are all represented by the association. The breeders association employs a large number of people both within the Hunter Valley and throughout Australia in a myriad of roles, from feed merchants and saddlers through to equine transport companies.  The breeders association works alongside the local community and Governments at all levels, in order to further promote and preserve the thoroughbred breeding industry. Membership is open to thoroughbred breeders situated in the Hunter Valley region, and it is renewed on a yearly basis. Non thoroughbred breeders who share an interest in the thoroughbred breeding industry in the Hunter Valley region specifically may demonstrate their support for the breeders association by becoming a contributor. The breeders association is currently comprised of a board of thirteen members who hail from some of the regions leading thoroughbred breeding farms, including Coolmore, Darley, Emirates Park and Vinery.
