Laucke-Merrina Poll Herefords  provides estimated breeding values of its herd by assessing their visual qualities. This strategy helps in achieving the desired breeding traits. Each year, Laucke-Merrina Poll Herefords artificially inseminates about 25 to 30 percent of its cows to access quality Poll Hereford genetics throughout the world.

Laucke-Merrina Poll Herefords’ bulls have won a number of awards at various shows. Merrina W69 Kenworth B69 bull won the grand champion award at the 2008 Naracoorte Show. The bull was sold for a top price. Merrina 512 Gringo A56 bull won the senior champion award at the 2007 Naracoorte Show. Merrina T81 Radar A31 is yet another bull which won the reserve senior champion and was sold at second top price. Laucke-Merrina Poll Herefords was established in 1972 and provides after sales support to the clients.

At present, Laucke-Merrina Poll Hereford currently has over 200 to 220 female cows. Laucke-Merrina Poll Hereford selects its replacement females based on their fertility; ease of calving, structural soundness and above average growth rates. Any cow falling below the desired requirements are substituted with replacements heifers. Replacements heifers are joined to calve down at 24 months of age.
