Lencrow Group  has installed a 30kW solar power system for powering their NSW workshops.

This installation is part of Lencrow Materials Handling’s environmentally responsible initiatives, and will help to reduce their carbon footprint.

The solar power system is designed to supply enough power to run the workshop and offices during daylight hours. The unit also has the capacity to power the charging of battery electric forklifts prior to delivery.

Ross Grassick, Managing Director of Lencrow explains that they explored various ways to reduce their carbon footprint. The company looked at offering a larger range of electric powered forklifts and vehicles for sale and hire, but it would have a significant impact only for their customers.

Since reducing power consumption was difficult, Lencrow decided to install a solar power system to generate their own power. This system was achievable at a reasonable cost with the added bonus of the system being almost totally invisible.

Supplied by Energo, the solar power system employs 120 solar panels that come with a 25-year warranty and is regulated through two 15 kilowatt inverters. This system provides a 20-year Carbon Abatement of 818 tonnes of carbon.

Satisfied with the results of the whole process, Ross Grassick says that Lencrow is planning to install similar systems at other sites.
