New MacDon 5020 Mower Conditioner Allows Baling To Start Sooner

Supplier News

Engineered to deliver more uniform, faster drying windrows, MacDon’s 5020 Pull-Type Mower Conditioner permits farmers to begin baling as quickly as possible after cutting, thereby reducing the risk of weather related damage to their crops.

The MacDon 5020’s ability to provide gentler conditioning and faster dry down is due in part to its unique new non-contact intermeshing V-bar steel conditioner rolls. Each conditioner roll is equipped with ten V-bars, providing positive crimping action and more crimps per stalk. Spaced to maintain uniform crop flow and aggressive feeding, these conditioner rolls also separate when the header is raised for “powerthrough” unplugging.

Another important feature on the 5020 is its progressive pitch auger, which delivers crop more evenly across the entire length of the conditioner rolls than a conventional auger. Additionally, the 5020’s advanced reel design features rectangular closed section reel bats for improved reel strength and reduced crop carry over. To allow for maximum range in cut length, the 5020 comes with manual or optional hydraulic header angle adjustment, allowing producers to easily switch between close cut and longer stubble cutting lengths.
