Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) provide marketing and research and development services for Australia's cattle, sheep and goat producers.

With over 47,500 livestock producer members, MLA creates opportunities for livestock supply chains from their combined investments to build demand and productivity, and optimising the return on collective investment in marketing and R&D.

Most of MLA's funding comes from transaction levies placed on the sale of livestock, with the Australian Government providing matched funding for levy investment in most R&D.

MLA provides services, tools and information that create tangible benefits for livestock producers that flow back to the farm gate. MLA help the industry to produce more red meat with fewer inputs and generate additional value from the global marketplace.

MLA's strategies are:

  • maintaining and improving market access
  • growing demand
  • increase productivity across supply chain
  • support industry integrity and sustainability

MLA offer membership which is free to levy-paying producers of grass or grainfed cattle, sheep, lambs or goats, with benefits including:

  • free market information
  • discounted entry into MLA events
  • free or discounted publications and information tools
  • free subscription to MLA's regular member magazine feedback
  • free weekly e-newsletter fridayfeedback
  • The opportunity to get more involved in your industry and make the most of your levies

MLA have also created a community page on its website as a place for livestock producers to stay in touch with what is going on in the red meat industry. Livestock producers can connect with MLA, other red meat producers and the urban community using social media.
