Pro-Visual Publishing has just released its 2010/11 edition of the Veterinary Industry Guide to Workplace Safety, calling on all veterinary clinics to implement a Radiation Management Plan to protect themselves from over exposure. The new Guide, which is now being sent out free of charge nationally, shows what to include in a Radiation Management Plan and notes the key safety points when working with x-ray equipment.
“We urge all veterinary industry employers to implement a Radiation Management Plan to safeguard against employee exposure during x-ray procedures,” said
Pro-Visual Publishing’s CEO John Hutchings. “By displaying the Chart prominently, employees have a daily reminder and employers are reducing the risk of workplace accidents, illness and injury, ” Mr Hutchings explained.
Some of the details Pro-Visual suggests be incorporated include personal radiation monitoring for those using x-ray equipment, arrangements for effective radioactive waste management and emergency procedures in response to radiation incidents. Also featured in this year’s Guide are the topics of animal vaccines, manual handling when working with large animals and working while pregnant.
