Peter FitzSimons will be the special guest at the RCS International Conference entitled “Farmers … heroes of the future”.  RCS celebrates 20 years as the Australian educator for the agricultural sector with ‘GrazingforProfit’ (GFP). Co-founder and Managing Director Terry McCosker says that farmers are the ones who can take control of landscape health, and human health and nutrition and a small but growing sector are already doing so.

“Farmers will be our heroes of the future,” Terry says. “We need to see ourselves as food producers. Building a healthy landscape not only helps us to stay in business, it also has a direct impact on our environment and on the nutrition of the food we grow. We need to think about farming differently this century to the way we thought about it last century. ““There are increasing demands on our landscape and our food nutrition. To help rebuild soil health, plant health and human health we are going to have to reconnect animals and crops to the same paddocks. This will be a shift from the monoculture approach and will take a different mindset to embrace.”

The importance of the future of the agricultural industry is highlighted by inviting Peter FitzSimons to be the guest speaker at the conference. “People know that farmers have been struggling for years with the weather patterns,” Terry said. “What people do not know is that farmers have also been fighting back with new knowledge, new attitudes and even new ideas that would once have seemed outrageous.”

Different concepts will be discussed at the conference, including ‘Subtle energies’. These discussions are taking placer in the aim of creating an understanding the landscape and how we can help renew its natural vigour. The common theme that unifies those taking part in the conference is to discuss the challenges of our era – to profit with healthy landscapes while growing healthy food. Peter FitzSimons will entertain the audience with his perspective on what makes farmers 'heroes of the future'.
