Honeywell Safety Products (previously Sperian ) provides a guide in eye testing at the workplace to help enhance eye protection and to check for visual defects that might potentially affect personal safety, work efficiency and performance.

When poor vision and visual defects are left undiagnosed or unattended, it can lead to accidents, high injury risks, reduced productivity and worker fatigue.

Honeywell suggests workplaces to consider improving eye protection by employing a Visual Performance Program, which can be carried out with Honeywell’s Titmus V Series Screeners.

The Titmus V Series Screeners enables employers to quickly access the health and quality of a worker’s vision. They are ergonomically designed with precision built stereoscopic instruments that provide precise and prompt measurements of visual performance.

The Titmus V Series Screeners can detect visual abnormalities such as binocularity, muscle balance, colour perception and deficiency, acuity at near and far and depth perception, as well as myriad and other visual functions that could affect eye protection.

Honeywell’s guide to Vision Screening:

  • The vision screener operator will ask the patient a series of questions while the patient looks through the vision screening machine to complete each test slide.
  • Patients’ answers are recorded on a score sheet.
  • Results from the score sheet are matched up against requirements for the worker’s particular job function.
  • If a worker fails the vision screening test based on their job function, it is a prompter to have that worker see an optometrist in order to have their vision fully assessed.
  • The optometrist will recommend the necessary measures to undertake in order to correct the worker’s vision and ensure they will be safe in performing their daily tasks on the job.
Honeywell’s Titmus V Series includes the Titmus V2 Vision Screener and the Titmus V4 Vision Screener. They are compact and portable and are ideal to test that worker’s vision comply to OH&S regulations for eye protection.
