Springleigh Shorthorn Stud specialises in commercial cattle breeding such as cows, bulls, goats and sheep. Springleigh Shorthorn Stud was established in 1997 with the purchase of the foundation sire. Springleigh Shorthorn Stud is owned and operated by Jack and Rhonda Banks.
Springleigh Shorthorn Stud bought Broughton Park Kojak Q57 stud cows from various Shorthorn studs. Stud cows include Broome, Lone Pine, Sprys, Tregonning, Evilo, Moombi, Marrington and Polldale. Springleigh Shorthorn Stud utilised the Shorthorn genetics to improve he herd. The Shorthorn cattle are one of the popular and sought after breed among cattle breeders.
In addition to breeding Shorthorn cattle, Springleigh Shorthorn Stud also runs Merino sheep. Springleigh Shorthorn Stud has developed and maintained a commercial flock of 21 micron Merino sheep, with average wool cuts ranging between 5 to 6 kilograms depending on the season.
Springleigh Shorthorn Stud offers cows which represent a wide cross-section of Australian Shorthorn genetics. Springleigh Shorthorn Stud constantly monitors its cows for their fertility, milk production and temperament in order to adapt Western Queensland environment.
