Stockbrokers Association of Australia promotes high standards in securities and derivatives industry
06/07/12 - Formerly known as the Securities and Derivatives Industry Association (SDIA), the Stockbrokers Association of Australia is the peak industry body representing institutional and retail stockbroking firms and investment banks in Australasia. The Association states that it "strives to promote the high standards, skills and knowledge of securities and derivatives professionals," listing a number of key priorities it defines as its mandate. These are to:effectively represent the stockbroking industry on policy and issues with Government and regulatory agenciesrepresent the industry customer-supplier - relationship issues with exchanges, clearing houses and other suppliersprovide professional recognition for industry practitionerspromote the stockbroking professionprovide professional education and trainingfacilitate to discuss and resolve industry-wide issuesensure members are better informed on issues likely to affect their business; andcollect and publishing statistics on the industry. Since forming in 1999, the Association has been hard at work on delivering on these priorities, while actively engaging members, regulators and other market participants to further strengthen the stockbroking profession. Members of the Stockbrokers Association of Australia include institutional and retail stockbrokers and investment banks of all sizes across the entire breadth of the industry, in addition to individual practitioners. Structurally, the Stockbrokers Association of Australia has a set of standing committees that support the board in prescribed areas. The Association has also established a network of committees and advisory panels that provide a forum for industry specialists to discuss and resolve issues important to Association members.
