Carry out procedures safely and efficiently with the Stockstill electronic animal restrainer

Supplier News

Available now from Stockstill , the Stockstill Animal Retrainer an electronic device that restrains livestock in order to improve the efficiency of animal handling procedures.

Designed and built in South Australia, the Stockstill electronic animal restrainer makes carrying out animal handling procedures easier and less time consuming, while minimising the use of stressful mechanical animal restraints.

These electronic animal restraints consist of a main unit which produces minute electrical pulses, electrodes which pass those pulses through an animal, and various leads and connections. The unit works by passing very short pulses through an animal along the spinal region, producing contractions of the skeletal muscles which render all, or part, of the animal immobile.

The key benefit of the Stockstill electronic animal restrainer is the increased safety it provides for both the farmer and the animal. Farmers no longer run the risk of being kicked or crushed with a brand or knife in hand during animal handling procedures, and animals are less likely to damage themselves and will not suffer the effects of anaesthesia.

Suitable for operations such as assisted calving, branding, castration, de-horning, ear-tagging, foot trimming and speying, the Stockstill electronic animal restrainer can be used on many animals and replaces traditional cradle and rope livestock restraints, allowing a variety of procedures to be carried out efficiently with a minimal amount of distress.

The Stockstill electronic animal restrainer is supplied with an instruction DVD and an operators manual.
