Syngenta’s Chorus fungicide protects Black Spot disease in apples and pears

Chorus, available from Syngenta , is a water dispersible granule (WG) fungicide for protection against Black Spot (Apple and Pear Scab) in apples and pears.

Chorus is particularly suitable for use early in the season, as it provides reliable control during periods of high disease pressure, low temperatures or adverse weather conditions.

Conventional protectant fungicides are subject to washoff, whereas the locally systemic activity of Chorus offers protection from inside the crop.

  • Active constituent: 500g/kg Cyprodinil
  • Formulation: Water dispersible granule
  • Resistance group: Group I fungicide

Benefits:

  • Protection from inside the leaf, which does not wash off
  • Disease protection in any weather condition
  • Good performance under cold, wet conditions and high disease pressure
  • High level of safety to beneficial insects, an ideal fit into IPM and IFP programmes
  • Good fruit finish
  • Single low application rate of 40g/100L (high volume application method)
  • Convenient, easy to handle granular formulation

Mode of action:
Chorus has an ideal double mode of action, which works on both outside and inside of the leaf. Firstly, germinating spores can be prevented from penetrating the leaf by a barrier of Chorus.

Secondly, Chorus penetrates into the leaf and can prevent the black spot fungus from developing the early growth that destroys leaf cells.

This action works by inhibiting the ability of the Black Spot fungus to manufacture proteins, enzymes and cell membranes.

Application timing:

  • Use Chorus as a protectant
  • Commence spraying at green tip with an approved fungicide
  • Then apply a maximum of 4 applications of Chorus between spur burst and petal fall at 7 to 10 day intervals
  • Use the shorter interval under high pressure and rapid growth
  • Add 25 ml/100L of a 100% non-ionic surfactant
  • Ensure thorough coverage
  • If interval exceeds 10 days, add Bogard at 25g/100L
  • Continue the Scab / Black Spot programme commencing no later than 7 to 10 days after the last Chorus application, using approved DMI plus protectant fungicides
  • Do not exceed 7 days if a non DMI (Group C) fungicide is used following Chorus

Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Chorus is suitable for use in IPM programmes; Chorus is harmless to predators in situations where integrated mite control is practiced.

Compatibility:
Chorus can be mixed with Anvil, Bogard, Delfin, Gusathion, Insegar, Lorsban, Nustar, Parathion, Pirimor, Supracide, Systhane and Topas.

Application:
Chorus is a water dispersible granule (WG) fungicide, which mixes readily with water. Partly fill the spray tank with water.

Start the agitation and add the correct amount of product to the spray tank with the agitation system running. Continue agitation while topping up the spray tank with water and while spraying.

Directions for use:
Restraints: The effect of CHORUS could be diminished if rain falls within 2 hours of application.
