“Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth” - Equine dentists tell horse owners to have their say

Supplier News

“Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth” – The gift being offered to horse owners is a set of draft national competencies for equine dentistry which have been listed for public comment by AgriFood Skills Australia. Horse owners are being urged to take advantage of this rare ‘gift’ and comment.

According to Sue Combridge, President of the Australasian Association of Equine Dentistry AAED , “The outcome of this project will have far reaching effects on which service provider the public may employ to perform equine dentistry on their horses in the future. The public must protect this right by having input now.”

The Australasian Association for Equine Dentistry believes that final competencies at Certificate IV and Diploma level will protect the public’s right to choose a competent professional and will ensure that dentists are trained and assessed according to national standards.
