Horse owners to win with national training standards in equine dentistry

Supplier News

Draft competencies for national training standards in equine dentistry have been developed by AgriFood Skills Australia and are now available for public comment.

Funded by the Federal Government, AgriFood Skills Australia supports the development of workplace training products and services.

The Australasian Association for Equine Dentistry believes the Cert IV and Diploma level qualifications formalise the work which has been performed by equine dentists around the world for decades.

This will provide official national recognition for the work dentists undertake in the field to help horses and at the same time protect the public’s right to choose a qualified equine dentist.

President of The Australasian Association of Equine Dentistry AAED Sue Combridge says, “This can only improve the standard of dental care for horses around the country.”

The Certificate IV and Diploma level competencies are now listed on the AgriFood Skills Australia web site. The Australasian Association for Equine Dentistry encourages all interested parties in the equine industry review the competencies and make comment. Submissions need to be done by the end of Jan 2011.
