Leading precision irrigation company, Valley Irrigation has recently been granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office in recognition of its ground-breaking achievements in the production of rice using mechanised irrigation systems.

Valley Irrigation is making available the patented rice development process under mechanised irrigation to farmers and organisations, royalty-free.

Jake LaRue, Director of Product Development and Support explains that Valley Irrigation pursued this process patent to demonstrate the company’s commitment to successfully using centre pivots, linears, and corner machines for the production of rice.

He adds that the process patent will not only help growers be more successful and profitable, but also create a way for rice to be grown in a more environment-friendly manner through water and resource conservation.

Valley Irrigation is committed to increasing the world’s food supply, while preserving fresh water resources through efficient irrigation.

Valley Irrigation’s Circles for Rice project has been conducting commercial research on rice production using centre pivots, linears and corner machines since 2008. Key goals of the research and field trials include conserving resources and farm inputs, increasing grower profitability, and producing food for the world’s growing population.

Valley Irrigation has supported over 30 commercial rice fields worldwide over the years.

Valmont  centre pivots and linears are used worldwide, irrigating approximately 17 million acres each year.
