Cross breeding of cattle from Waterfront Simmentals & Red Angus
Waterfront Simmentals & Red Angus is involved in breeding cattle with the help of genetics sourced from Simmental studs. The Simmental stud operates with a base of 100 stud cows. The genetics of these cows are blended through ET and A1 programmes to produce functional cattle. Waterfront Simmentals & Red Angus started its operations in 1996 with cross breeding of Simmental and Red Angus breed. The progeny of the Simmentals and Red Angus from Waterfront Simmentals & Red Angus was known as Red Baldies. Red Baldies possess numerous functional trades.
Waterfront Simmentals & Red Angus has participated in various sale ring shows. Waterfront Simmentals & Red Angus has won the Stock Journal trophy for beef cattle exhibitor of All Breeds in 1999 and the Adelaide show for All Breeds Champion in 1998. Waterfront Simmentals & Red Angus has also won the Supreme Exhibit 1998 and 2000 award at the Simmental National Show and Sale.
Waterfront Simmentals & Red Angus commercially focuses on Oriental Park cattle. This Oriental Park was purchased at Tintinara in 2000. Oriental Park is retained by Waterfront Simmentals & Red Angus in its stud and acts as a base for breeding Red Baldies. The commercial herd of Waterfront Simmentals & Red Angus is focused on producing milk vealers for local market trade.
