"Sir Walter"- you can lead a buffalo lawn to water, but you can’t let it drink

Supplier News

This was the case, but now, Windsor Turf , a north-western Sydney turf farm, has advised that Sydney Water has introduced new Water Wise Rules to replace previous drought restrictions

"Water Wise Rules have been introduced as dam storage levels have been around 60% for the past year. This, together with more recycling projects and desalination coming on line, means greater Sydney is in a stronger position. However, continuing to be water wise makes good sense."

Sydney Water Water Wise Rules allow for customers to use sprinklers or watering systems to establish a new lawn at any time of the day for 14 days from the date of turf installation. After 14 days the sprinklers and watering systems may only be used before 10 am and after 4 pm daily.

As a licensed grower and supplier of Sir Walter and other leading varieties of turf, Windsor Turf has seen a major shift in recent years to the more drought tolerant varieties of turf. Mr. Lance Yates, General Manager of Windsor Turf says hardy Australian-developed Sir Walter is the perfect turf variety to install as it keeps its colour and grows strongly all year round, even in shady or drier positions-while other varieties are dying off.

Mr. Yates recommends all householders in the Greater Sydney Region regularly visit Sydney Water to see how they may be affected. The current Water Wise Rules are simple, common sense actions that apply to all Sydney Water customers in Sydney, the Illawarra and the Blue Mountains.
