Farming 2020 and Beyond - YLAD Living Soils Field Day

Supplier News

The 2009 YLAD Living Soil annual field day, Farming 2020 and Beyond, took place in October in Young.

The event proved to be even bigger and better then usual, illustrating that YLAD Living Soils are pioneers in new science, agriculture and education and are committed to offering new, more natural and sustainable systems in regenerative farming around Australia, as well as at a community level.

YLAD Living Soils use humus technology, microbial balancing technology to benefit mainstream, biological, organic, biodynamic and permaculture farmers in food, fruit and cereal crop production and with the wellbeing and welfare of their animals.

Six international and local speakers spoke in the morning and the afternoon saw field day attendees visit Michael and Pauline Ricketts’ farm where they have adopted biological farming practices for many years with great success. From there the bus traveled to the YLAD Living Soils composting site where participants viewed demonstrations of compost turning, compost tea extraction and new varieties of grazing Triticale crops.

Dr Maarten Stapper, as seen on Australian Story, introduced the logic behind biological agriculture. Maarten’s great passion has seen him become recognised as a man who is dedicated to ‘preaching’ the biological farming message.
