Yalgoo Merino Stud breed wool merinos for commercial purpose. Yalgoo Merino and Polled Hereford stud are the two commercial stud maintained by Yalgoo.

Yalgoo Merino Stud are in the commercial market and so constantly evolve package of genes. Yalgoo Merino Stud use objective measurement tool for selecting the traits to produce higher fleece values. The objective measurement tool ensures production of fleece with weight. Yalgoo Merino Stud produce 16-micron quality wool through their strict breeding programmes.

Yalgoo Merino Stud work keenly on the selection process to enhance the commercial value of the products produced for their clients. Stud ewes and rams are measured and ranked on a selection index. Yalgoo Merino Stud make their process in such a way that the fibre diameter is reduced and the fleece weight is maintained. Apart from reducing the fibre diameter, Yalgoo Merino Stud also plan to enhance the strength and the resistance of the fleece.

The Yalgoo Poll Hereford Stud was formed in the year 1949 with the purchase of Hereford cows from Lilburn and Fernhill, and Poll Herefords from Kildrummie, Milton Park, Moreduval and Vesta. For more than 40 years, Yalgoo Polled Herefore Stud have been operating as a prominent breeder and exhibitor at royal and regional shows.
