Koonwarra Merino Stud  runs Merrignee Merino, Poll Merino and Poll Hereford studs. Koonwarra Merino Stud has two Merino studs to provide a diverse range of livestock to the clients.

Koonwarra Merino Stud was founded in 1947 with the purchase of 50 ewes which were mated with Wanganella bred ram. The ram was bought from Elielwah, NSW. Koonwarra Merino Stud used genetics from Merryville and Uardry, and in 1979 about 268 ewes were purchased from the Manderley Stud dispersal. With the blend of Merryville and Peppin genetics, the sheep developed into large, fine and medium wool animal.

Koonwarra Merino Stud is jointly owned by Capital Investments Rural Pty Ltd, Merrignee Pty Ltd and Charles Curran. Charles Curran was the inaugural chairman of the Australian Wool Exchange.

Koonwarra Merino Stud uses sires such as Uniformfamily 2.647, Merryville BG, Gemfamily 7.78, Uniform 7.49, KWA Syndicate, Blacktag N family BU, 8.7 family 1.9, Gemfamily 3.129, Gemfamily and 8.7 family. Koonwarra Merino Stud will be conducting an Annual On-Property Unhoused Ram Sale on Friday 10th October. Another sale, 2008 Body Weights For On-Property Ram Sale will also be held shortly
